THE INDEPENDENCE PROJECT MISSION
Building a community for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
The Independence Project, a registered 501(c)(3) formed by a passionate, committed group of parents and professionals, is working to build a supported residential community in Gainesville that will provide a new, sustainable housing option for our region’s adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD).
THE INDEPENDENCE PROJECT viSION
Design and build a supported residential community for adults with I/DD in Greater Gainesville
- Provide access to individualized support services to ensure each resident’s success with sustainable, independent living
- Create pathways and partnerships both internal to the residential community and throughout the Greater Gainesville region, so residents can fully work, live and play to their abilities

Meeting the Need in Greater Gainesville
We have visited with and learned from several successful housing communities around our state and around the country. These are the inspiration projects that will help inform The Independence Project community here in Gainesville.
